San Jacinto College Opens New Center for Biotechnology at Generation Park
NIBRT congratulates our Global Partner, San Jacinto College, on the grand opening of the new Center for Biotechnology at Generation Park in Houston, Texas. This state-of-the-art facility represents a major milestone in strengthening the Southwestern U.S. biopharma talent pipeline and advancing Houston’s growing life sciences ecosystem.
NIBRT was proud to join the celebrations, represented by Barry Shortt and Eimear Deeny PhD MBA, and looks forward to continuing to support San Jacinto College in this exciting new chapter.
As part of the NIBRT Global Partner Programme, San Jacinto College serves as the exclusive provider of NIBRT-licensed training in the southern United States. This ensures learners in the region can access world-class biopharma education. Together with partners in Maryland, Canada, Australia, Senegal, and South Korea, the programme connects leading organisations worldwide to address the global shortage of a skilled biopharma workforce.
The new center goes beyond traditional classroom teaching. At its core is a pilot-scale bioprocessing plant, where students gain invaluable hands-on training with the same industry-grade equipment used in commercial facilities.
The timing of the opening is especially significant. Earlier this week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Eli Lilly CEO Dave Ricks announced a historic $6.5 billion investment adjacent to the new training center, underscoring the urgent demand for a highly skilled biopharma workforce. San Jacinto College is ideally positioned to help meet that demand.
