Biography
Professor Andreas Bender is an Adjunct Principal Investigator at NIBRT and Professor for Machine Learning in Medicine at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, where he focuses on analysing complex chemical, biological, and medical data for clinically relevant decision making.
He received his PhD from the University of Cambridge and has worked at Novartis in Cambridge, MA, and at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He previously held roles as Professor of Molecular Informatics at the University of Cambridge, Director for Digital Life Sciences at Nuvisan in Berlin, and Associate Director for Data Science and AI in Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences at AstraZeneca in Cambridge, UK.
Professor Bender’s research centres on integrating diverse data sources, including structural and bioactivity data, gene expression, cellular imaging, pathway information, and electronic health records. He has also contributed to several biotech ventures, including Healx, PharmEnable, and Pangea Bio.
