Equipment Reliability with SCRI-IS

Overview

This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the challenges and solutions associated with corrosion and rouge formation on stainless steel, with a particular focus on austenitic grades used in critical sanitary and high-purity applications. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the material properties, surface integrity, and performance characteristics of stainless-steel grades such as 1.4404, 1.4435, and 316L (as specified by ASME BPE). At the end of the course participants will be equipped with both the theoretical understanding and practical tools necessary to manage these issues in demanding environments such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and chemical manufacturing.

Key topics covered

  • Overview of common austenitic stainless-steel alloys
  • Material of Construction Selection (application of Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN)):
  • Surface Finish and Integrity
  • Corrosion Mechanisms, their identification, and remedy
  • Welding and Its Impact on Stainless Steel
  • Rouge Formation and Management
  • Field Inspection and Asset Prioritisation

Who should attend

The course is designed for engineers, maintenance professionals, and quality control specialists working in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and other industries where stainless-steel reliability is paramount.
