Press Release: NIBRT Partner with Zifo R&D Solutions

NIBRT partner with Zifo R&D Solutions to offer a customised bioprocessing training program for IT specialists in the biotech industry

  • NIBRT develops a customised bioprocessing training programme to provide IT specialists with a fundamental understanding of the biopharma manufacturing environment and associated equipment.
  • Zifo R&D Solutions will use the training as a key pillar in their personal development strategy for their global technical support specialists.
  • Trainees will complete a comprehensive training program through NIBRT’s Online Academy (NOA) before being immersed in the bioprocessing environment at NIBRT’s facility in Ireland.

Dublin, Ireland – May 24th, 2022 – The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) in Dublin, Ireland and Zifo R&D Solutions announce a new collaboration to provide tailored online and personal training to IT specialists in the basics of laboratory and bioprocessing equipment and workflows.

To meet a growing demand within the bioprocessing services industry, NIBRT and Zifo recognised the need for providing a foundational level of biologics manufacturing training to their technical and IT specialists outside of their core competencies. Under the partnership, NIBRT will provide Zifo trainees access to a variety of courses on the NIBRT Online Academy (NOA), the award-winning bioprocessing e-learning platform, as a preparatory educational program before the trainees attend a customised three-day training course in Dublin.

The training courses at NIBRT have been designed around Zifo’s desire to demonstrate how the equipment their specialists interact with, fit within a standard bioprocessing lab, production suite or lab. Trainees will experience gowning up and cooperating within a GMP-like environment where they will have an opportunity, along with a NIBRT trainer, to interrogate the equipment and its role within a broader manufacturing workflow.

Commenting on the announcement, NIBRT’s Training Director John Milne remarked – “We are very pleased to welcome Zifo to NIBRT. Since launching NOA we have been delighted to see it’s value proposition addressing not only our core group of biopharma manufacturing clients but also providing a key resource for the services industry as well. NOA’s on-demand courses combined with our many years of experience delivering customised training programmes is a perfect fit for this type of organisation wide training program.”

Speaking about the announcement Neil Whitworth, Director of Lab Support Services at Zifo commented ‘At Zifo we have always believed that when our people are well trained, they not only produce higher quality results the first-time round for our customers, but also the process of self-improvement helps us to feel better about ourselves and our ability to take on daily challenges.   It’s a simple equation – by developing our people we have happier people.

But it’s not all about results – We know that Lab is our customer’s passion and life and so we feel that when we invest in teaching our people the core concepts of their business then we are telling our customers that we care.

I have been in IT for over 30 years and dedicated to Lab IT for the past 12, and so when we decided to look for world-class training my first thought was NIBRT.  NIBRT is unique in its facilities and approach and that’s why we are here.”
