NIBRT Transition Year Programme 2025
We are delighted to announce details of the NIBRT Transition Year Programme 2025. This programme will take place from Monday, 27th January to Friday, 31st January 2025, at the NIBRT facility in Dublin.
Eight successful students will get the opportunity to experience what it is like to study biopharmaceuticals and work in this life-changing industry. This programme is open to all students currently in Transition Year with an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). One place on the programme is reserved for a student from a DEIS school.

Key Dates:
- 1st October 2024: Applications open.
- 31st October 2024: Application deadline.
- 22nd November 2024: Winners notified and placement confirmation requested.
- 29th November 2024: Final date for student placement confirmation.
- 7th January 2025: Program pack sent to students and schools.
- 27th-31st January 2025: TY Programme at NIBRT.
Application Process:
To enter, submit either a three-minute video or a 1,500-word essay on the topic:
“What is Biopharmaceutical Science and why would I like to study at NIBRT?”
This competition is your opportunity to showcase your creativity, explore new ideas, and express your enthusiasm for biopharmaceutical science. Remember, all submissions must be original work and adhere to the following formats:
- Video: MP4, MOV (easily recorded on a mobile phone).
- Essay: Microsoft Word (1,500 words)

Note: Students must be available to attend the NIBRT facility from Monday, 27th January to Friday, 31st January 2025, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Please note:
Successful schools are given one place on the programme. Due to the popularity of the programme, NIBRT may only accept one student per school. One place is reserved for a student from a DEIS school. Unsuccessful students are placed on the waiting list, should places become available.
NIBRT will be responsible for students between the hours of 9:30am and 16:30pm daily. We do not accept responsibility for students outside of these hours. Travel and accommodation for the programme cannot be organised by NIBRT. NIBRT will organise lunch for students however students are welcome to bring their own packed lunches if preferred.
