NIBRT Receives Cytiva MDPFS PUPSIT System in Continued Collaboration Milestone

A new Manual Drug Product Filtration System (MDPFS) PUPSIT has been donated by Cytiva to the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT), marking another important milestone in the organisations’ ongoing collaboration to advance biopharmaceutical training and innovation in Ireland.

The MDPFS –  a sterile system designed for used to perform Pre Use Post Sterilisation Integrity Testing (PUPSIT) to meet EU GMP Annex 1 requirements for the manufacture of sterile medicinal products —- will strengthen NIBRT’s ability to train industry professionals in current filtration and sterility assurance practices. As regulatory expectations around PUPSIT continue to evolve, this addition ensures that trainees gain hands on experience with technologies used in contemporary GMP manufacturing environments.

NIBRT welcomes the addition of this system as a valuable enhancement to its mission of providing training and research facilities for the biopharma sector. The system will be integrated into Fill Finish, PUPSIT and Filtration modules, as well as broader bioprocessing programs, supporting both new entrants and experienced professionals seeking to upskill. Cytiva’s contribution reflects a long standing collaboration with NIBRT, built on shared goals of strengthening workforce readiness and accelerating bioprocessing excellence.

The MDPFS is expected to be operational in upcoming training programmes in H2 2026 , offering learners enhanced exposure to critical filtration operations and compliance focused workflows
