NIBRT Announces Global Partnership in South Korea

NIBRT announces a new global partnership as part of the Korean-NIBRT (K-NIBRT) project to  develop a world class biopharma manufacturing training and research centre in Incheon, South Korea.

DUBLIN, IRELAND, August 19th, 2021 –  NIBRT is delighted to announce today the signing of an agreement with Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Kwon, Deok-Cheol), Korea Health Industry Development Institute (President Kwon, Soon-man) and Yonsei University (President Seo, Seoung Hwan) for the introduction of the NIBRT training and education programme in relation to the Korean-NIBRT (K-NIBRT) project.  

K-NIBRT will develop into Korea’s bioprocessing workforce development institute by licensing NIBRT’s  world-leading training and education curriculum in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The K-NIBRT facility is scheduled to open in 2024 with the goal of establishing industry leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing training in the Asia-Pacific region. Before the official opening of the K-NIBRT facility, training programmes will commence at Yonsei University’s International Campus from September 2021.

Commenting on the Agreement the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare remarked, “Through this project, we will spur the training of professional manpower so that the pharmaceutical bio industry can shift to bio-medicine-oriented, especially, in the Covid pandemic situation, and become a driving force for Korea to leap forward as an international vaccine hub.”

K-NIBRT will now join other leading biopharma research and training organisations in NIBRT’s Global Partner Programme including:

  • Biologics Innovation Facility, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia
  • Bioprocessing Research and Training Academy (BRTAG), Guangzhou, China
  • Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Lifesciences (CASTL), Canada
