Role Purpose

The successful candidate will working closely with the finance team and wider business, the role plays a key part in month-end and year-end processes, financial controls, and audit preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts which are reported to the Senior Leadership Team, the NIBRT Board and the Resource Oversight Committee.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Support statutory accounts preparation and act as a key contact for external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with tax requirements (e.g. Payroll, VAT, corporation tax support).
  • Maintain and improve financial controls and accounting processes.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting with accurate historical financial information.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Support the organisation as required with ad-hoc external reporting requirements.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). 
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting external audits. 
  • Solid knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
  • Good understanding of tax compliance requirements (payroll, vat and corporation tax). 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and governance. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Payroll Experience.
  • Experience in preparing VAT returns. 
  • Experience in using accounting software and database packages especially Sage.
