Role Purpose
This person will lead the planning, development, delivery, and coordination of top-quality training programmes in smart manufacturing technologies. To fulfil this purpose, the role holder will engage with a wide variety of clients and vendors to identify needs and scope potential solutions, which may include training programmes or other collaborative initiatives with NIBRT stakeholders.
The successful candidate will maintain a high level of knowledge of digital and AI trends and innovations relevant to biopharmaceutical manufacturing, guiding and advising the organisation on new initiatives and digital infrastructures that can add value and drive associated revenue.
The role will set a professional standard on behalf of NIBRT when engaging with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
Duties of the Digital Training & Partnerships Lead will include:
- Building and managing relationships between NIBRT and industry clients to:
- Understand clients’ digital training needs.
- Strengthen client understanding of NIBRT’s existing and future service offerings.
- Deliver new training business for NIBRT, working closely with clients and internal teams to ensure courses are planned, developed, and delivered effectively.
- Networking across the digital, life sciences, and training communities to identify opportunities for collaboration, joint ventures, and innovative training delivery models.
- Developing and nurturing an ecosystem of clients, vendors, and technology partners to position NIBRT as the go-to centre for digital biopharma training.
- Delivering on annual revenue targets through effective pipeline management, client engagement, and partnership-led business development.
- Liaising with key technology partners (vendors and others) to enable NIBRT to stay ahead of digital trends and regulatory expectations in areas such as AI, analytics, automation architecture, advanced control systems, robotics, and the facility/laboratory of the future.
- Developing and delivering new training programmes, comprising theoretical and/or practical content in digital manufacturing technologies using e-learning platforms, mixed reality, and interactive dashboards.
- Collaborating with NIBRT’s Higher Education partners in Ireland and internationally on the development of digital-related training and education content and approaches.
- Developing knowledge of and maintaining organisational awareness of digital and AI trends and advances in smart biopharmaceutical manufacturing and proposing new initiatives to increase value and revenue.
- Leading collaboration discussions with technology and digital vendors on partnerships that can advance NIBRT’s digital training offering.
- Contributing to digital and AI-related webinars and opinion pieces that promote NIBRT as an innovative training service delivery organisation.
- Leading Train-the-Trainer initiatives so digital-related training can be embedded across the wider NIBRT team and localised by global partners.
- Monitoring and evaluating impact by developing key performance indicators to track engagement, learning outcomes, and business impact.
- Any other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time by your manager.
Essential Criteria
- Applicants will be expected to hold a graduate or post-graduate degree in a digital-related scientific field combined with life science training or expertise.
- A strong knowledge of the application of digital technologies and strategies in an industry setting is essential.
Desirable Criteria
In addition, the ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated success in business development, partnership management, or strategic account growth within a technical or training-focused environment.
- A commercial mindset with experience in identifying, developing, and closing new opportunities that deliver measurable business impact.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Motivation and initiative to work independently as part of a dynamic training team.
- A good understanding of GMP-compliant biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations (advantageous).
- Expertise in emerging digital technologies such as AI, machine learning, digital twins, and data lakes (advantageous).
- Experience implementing systems such as ELNs, LIMS, and MES systems (advantageous).
- Experience in training in an industrial setting, with the ability to translate complex workflows into engaging digital training modules and simulations.
- Project management skills and experience leading strategic business projects from inception to delivery.
