How it Works?

Step 1: Complete a Practical Training Course

Begin by completing a short, on-site training course at the NIBRT facility or at a NIBRT-affiliated Global Partner Site.

You can enrol in a relevant short course here. The NGQ carries an additional fee of €500, separate from the practical course fee.

Completion of a NIBRT short course or a customised course in any of the above disciplines completed at NIBRT (or affiliated partner site) within the past 12 months will provide the entry route to attaining an NGQ Certificate.

Step 2: Register for Your NGQ

Once you have completed your on-site training, register for the corresponding NGQ for €500. To earn the qualification, you will complete a multiple-choice quiz, a 2,000-word lab report, and a 1,500-word reflective assessment. Upon successful completion, you'll receive your accredited NGQ certificate (5 ECTS).

NGQs are stackable, allowing you to build toward a Special Purpose Award.

Have you already completed a NIBRT short course in the past year?

If so, you can enrol in the matching online NGQ to retroactively earn the certification. Please note that this is only available for relevant courses completed in the past 12 months at the NIBRT facility (or affiliated partner site).

Funding Available – 80% HCI Fee Subsidy

The NGQ programme is supported by the Human Capital Initiative (HCI), providing an 80% funding subsidy for eligible Irish applicants. This subsidy applies to NGQ cost and does not apply to cost of practical course at NIBRT. The current subsidy is available for a limited number of students (first 100 to apply) and until the end of June 2025.
