NIBRT Welcomes Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Delegation

NIBRT welcomed John F. Crowley, President and CEO of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), and a delegation from BIO to its Dublin facility for a series of discussions on the strategic opportunities and challenges facing the global biopharma sector.

The visit focused on three key areas.

Growth in biopharma manufacturing. Discussions examined the strong forecasted growth of biopharma manufacturing, driven by emerging modalities and next generation manufacturing technologies.

Manufacturing as a national security priority. The delegation and NIBRT discussed the increasing recognition of biopharma manufacturing as a strategic national security priority, and the importance of strengthening international partnerships to build resilient, flexible, and secure global supply chains.

Workforce development. The visit also addressed the growing demand for a highly skilled, specialised, and globally standardised workforce. NIBRT highlighted the role of the NIBRT Global Partner Programme and NIBRT Global Qualifications in meeting this need, working with Global Partners including BioHub Maryland, powered by Maryland Tech Council, San Jacinto College Center for Biotechnology, Heartland BioWorks Tech Hub, CASTL (Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences), and Yonsei K-NIBRT.

NIBRT thanked John Crowley and the BIO team for the discussions and looks forward to continuing to work together to strengthen the global biopharmaceutical ecosystem through innovation, workforce development, research collaboration, and international partnership.
